FAMILIES IN TRANSITION RECEIVES $30,000 FROM CITYSIDE MANAGEMENT CORPORATION

Cityside Management Corporation will be the lead sponsor for the annual fundraising event of Families in Transition (FIT), a Manchester and Concord-based homelessness nonprofit. Cityside pledged $30,000 in sponsorship funds for FIT’s sixth annual Cinco de Mayo event, the proceeds of which directly support the agency’s housing and services for the homeless.

Since 2006, Families in Transition’s Cinco de Mayo Celebration has raised nearly $400,000 for Families in Transition housing and services for homeless individuals and families. In 2010, funds raised through the event were used toward the purchase of an activity bus for the agency’s youth participants. This year, the money raised will help furnish a new FIT residence: an historic, refurbished building on Lowell Street in Manchester, NH, which when completed in June 2011 will house up to thirty homeless women and children.

“In New Hampshire, FIT is known as the nonprofit that helps communities--that helps those in need within the New Hampshire urban centers,” Cityside President Christopher Dolloff said. “[Because] Cityside is a New Hampshire-based organization, it seemed a perfect fit for me to help FIT with their mission, similar to my own.”

“The support of community partners like Cityside is at the core of the success of Families in Transition,” said FIT President Maureen Beauregard. “By taking the lead in sponsoring our Cinco de Mayo event, Christopher and Cityside show the strength of their commitment to combating homelessness in New Hampshire.”

FIT’s Cinco de Mayo Celebration, Thursday, May 5, from 5:30pm – 9:30pm features a festive atmosphere with a Latin flavor. This year’s event will mark a departure from previous years, featuring lower ticket prices, a more casual atmosphere, and a new venue at 1000 Elm Street in Manchester. Event information and registration can be found at www.fitnh.org/cinco

Families in Transition is a nonprofit organization that provides safe, affordable housing and comprehensive social services to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, enabling them to gain self-sufficiency and respect. FIT also owns and operates two thrift stores in Manchester and Concord, NH which serve as an economic engine to help pay for services they provide.
